All Graystorm Notebooks use smooth 118-gsm/80lb uncoated paper, eliminates feathering and bleed-through, making them the ideal notebook for fountain pen users. Ghosting is minimized due to the 95% opacity, allowing writing on both sides of the page with confidence.
Luxurious Japanese book cloth and silkscreened Japanese Chiyogami decorative paper, is used on the hardcover casing.
The quality craftsmanship is evident in thoughtful additions like a back pocket adorned with decorative paper, an elastic band for secure closure, and a silky ribbon placeholder to keep your place.

The Japanese paper used in this notebook is superb for use with a fountain pen. I just finished trying out a Spencerian nib fountain pen with Iroshizuku ink. The nib is easy to control on the paper, and the letters are clean and sharp. For me, this is the most important feature of this notebook; however, the binding quality and choice of materials makes this a superb product. If you appreciate really nice work, I highly recommend these notebooks.

I was so happy to get delivery of my notebook. A wonderful experience starts as soon as you open the package. The notebook is carefully wrapped in folded black paper with a kind note included. It’s clear how much case was taken in just the wrapping. Once opened, a beautiful notebook re walked itself. The paper quality is incredible and the binding is really well done. I’m a fan of fountain pens and the paper is great for that as it absorbs the ink without being blotchy or streaky. I’m so grateful for the care and craftsmanship in its construction. I highly recommend.

Comparing a Graystorm journal to most any other writing type notebook is akin to a comparison between a Mercedes and a VW Rabbit. The both have motors and 4 wheels… but there is where the comparison starts to break down. Mycroft has built these journals to stand the test of time. And they are more fountain pen friendly than any journal I’ve ever used at any price. As the saying goes “you get what you pay for “.
