Three-Quarter Binding First noted by name in 1897, three-quarter binding wraps the spine and at least 75% of the cover in leather, extending over the corners and part of each board. It was the choice for books meant to last — heavily handled, endlessly reopened.
We're featuring two three-quarter designs this week, bound in green and gold Thai Momi marbled paper and classical Marine Blue Japanese book cloth.
Thai Momi paper starts as mulberry — crushed and wrinkled by hand until it takes on the texture of fabric, then tie-dyed and marbled in metallic tones. The result is closer to a wearable textile than a paper.
